Norm-referenced testing à performance is measured not with relation to others’ scores, but
with relation to criteria for a particular unit of learning. To classify
students. ex: TOEFL, IQ test, CAT, CTBS and SAT (because it gives rank), to place the
individual in rank continue room (range of rank).

Criterion-referenced testing à performance is measured not with relation to teaching objectives,
but with relation to group ranking.
Compare to the standard,
so we can’t compare students, because we use criterion referenced test. Much
closer or closer.
